''Als Je Later Groot Bent (When You Grow Up) observes people during a working day. The silence and distance in the film create an absurt portrait that makes you wonder what it means to be human in a work-driven society.''

For Als Je Later Groot Bent I got the chance to write for a string quintet as well as saxophone and piano. The film feels like a true 'Gesamtkunstwerk' to me. In close collaboration with Max (director) and Wies (editor) I looked for the right vibe and instruments for this film. During the sound phase a lot of the film changed, which also had consequences for the music's instrumentation. I had to rewrite some parts at the very end, and we made a lot of last minute creative choices. It was a lot of last minute (night) work but I do look back at a fruitful collaboration in which I learned and grew a lot as a composer!
